A group of jealous officials manipulated the King into issuing an irrevocable edict designed to trap Daniel. The decree declared that anyone who prayed to any god or human other than the king during the next thirty days, would be thrown into the lions’ den. So what did Daniel do? He chose to remain true to his spiritual disciplines no matter the cost.

Lord Jesus, help us to establish consistent spiritual disciplines now so they will sustain us when persecution comes. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
