Disobedience leaves the door into our lives unguarded giving the enemy free access. Though it may not seem significant at the time, each disobedience, no matter how small, is like a fissure in the wall of our soul. Through each tiny crack the acid of evil seeps in and begins to eat away at the foundations of our spiritual character. Over time our spiritual will is compromised and when the thief comes, we simply do not have the power to resist. To the undiscerning it may appear that we were brought down by that final crisis, but in reality, it was the dry rot of disobedience.
“Why did you not obey the Lord…why did you do evil in the eyes of the Lord?”
— 1 Samuel 15:19 (NIV 1984)
Lord enable us to walk in obedience lest we give the thief access to our lives. Amen.
