As I recall my childhood, it is not the Little League baseball games I remember or the junior high football games, but the long summer evenings spent playing catch with my dad. Nor do I remember a single time when I gulped down a Big Mac on the way to a soccer game, but I do remember eating dinner as a family virtually every evening of my childhood and the rhythm of mealtime gave order to our daily lives while affording us an opportunity to connect with each other.

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

— Ephesians. 6:4

Lord Jesus, deliver us from our hectic lives. Help us to slow down and enjoy being a family. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
