Mother has been gone several years now, but I remember her last days as if they just happened. While maintaining my vigil beside her hospital bed, I realized I had a choice. I could focus on this tragedy and Mother’s impending death, or I could revisit the memories of the rich life she so freely shared with those she loved. I choose the latter and thus began a journey that gave birth to an overwhelming sense of gratitude that comforts me to this day.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
— Proverbs 31:29
Lord Jesus, help us to be grateful for all we’ve had rather than grieving over what we’ve lost. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
