While most believers have at least a passing knowledge regarding the discipline of scripture and prayer, but many are woefully ignorant when it comes to journaling and its spiritual benefits. Journaling is a discipline that encourages us to prayerfully examine our life. This is important because we generally avoid examining those issues that are painful. Even when we pray about them, we usually just offer some kind of generic prayer—something like, “Heal this relationship” or “Resolve this difficulty.” Journaling encourages us to think deeply and prayerfully about them.
“Search me, O god, and know my heart…
— Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV 1984)
See if there is any offensive way in me…”
Lord Jesus, heal the wounds I have suffered and the wounds I have caused. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
