The third disciple that enabled Daniel to become a man of moral strength and spiritual integrity was prayer. He ordered his entire day around it. Daniel 6 declares, “Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed.” That was not a problem until some jealous government officials manipulated the King into issuing an irrevocable decree making it a crime punishable by to death to pray to anyone but the King. So, what did Daniel do?
“He went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”
— Daniel 6:10 (NIV 1984)
Lord help teach us to pray now so we will have the courage to pray when persecution comes. Amen.
