When tragedy strikes we are often tempted to ask why. While this is natural it is an exercise in futility. Even if we could figure out “why” something happened it wouldn’t change a thing. At seventy-four, I am finally learning to replace the “why” questions with “how” questions. Instead of asking, why did this happen, I am learning to ask how is God going to use this for my good and His glory.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
— Romans 8:28 (NLT)
Lord Jesus, give us the faith to believe You have everything under control even when it seems our world is falling apart. Help us to believe that you will use every situation for our good. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
