The economy of the Kingdom operates on the law of sowing and reaping. You must give what you have before you can receive what you need. You must sow before you can reap. Consider the example of the widow of Zarephath. She gave Elijah her last bit of bread and in return the Lord provided food for the prophet and for the woman and her family every day (1 Kings 17:15-16). Consider the boy who gave Jesus his lunch of five barley loaves and two fish. Jesus used that meager lunch to feed thousands and the boy got back twelve baskets full of bread and fish (John 5:13).

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”

— 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)

Lord, help us to give what we have in order to receive what we need. Amen.
