Several years ago, more than thirty now, I was passing through a difficult time in my life. Part of it was my fault, but at the time I couldn’t see that. I simply felt betrayed, wounded by the church I had chosen to serve, rejected and misunderstood by my peers. It was a complicated situation, and there is nothing to be gained by delving into the painful details. Suffice it to say that were it not for some special friends I probably would not be in the ministry today. Well it has been said,
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
— Proverbs 17:17 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, I want to thank you for the special friends You have placed in my life. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
