If you have been betrayed by someone you loved and trusted I would like to suggest some things you will need to do if you hope to be healed and restored. 1) Refuse to define your relationship by this one tragic event. It is a part of your relationship but that is all—just a part. 2) Choose to protect those you love—parents, siblings, and friends—who would be hurt by this information. There is nothing to be gained by telling them so why make them suffer? 3) Consciously choose to set aside the “why” questions. Even if you could understand “why” everything happened as it did it would not change one thing.

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

— 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

Lord help us to focus on restoring the relationship rather than punishing the betrayer. Amen.
