It must have seemed to Peter that no matter what he did, it was wrong. As a result he may have became disillusioned. Perhaps that’s why he “…followed him (Jesus) at a distance” (Mt. 26:58). When things don’t seem to work out it is easy to become disillusioned. If we’re not careful we may end up like Peter—following Jesus at a distance.
Let me close today’s devotion with a question: “Have you allowed hurt and disappointment to cause you to distance yourself from the Lord?”
“…if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.”
— Galatians 6:1 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, I am praying for those who have allowed hurt to discourage them. Heal their wounded spirit and restore their faith. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
