If we will listen, we will hear Jesus say, “I have loved you with an everlasting love, and I will not let you go” (Jeremiah 31:3).
“Oh, Lord,” we cry, “how can You love us in our sinful brokenness?”
His voice again, nearer, more persistent. “I have loved you with an everlasting love, and I will not let you go.”
“You don’t love us,” we protest. “You can’t. We’re sinful. We’re unworthy of Your love.”
Once more He says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love, and I will not let you go.”
Finally we surrender, unable to resist His love any longer. Sinful? Yes, but loved. Troubled on every side? Yes, but loved. And ultimately it is His love that transforms us, that makes us a new creation in Him!
“Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
— Romans 8:39 (NLT)
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me. Your love is my strength and my security. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
