The Bible highlights three special meals, the Passover (Exodus 12:21-28), the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-29 and 1 Corinthians 11:20), and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:5-9). Today we are focusing on the Lord’s Supper or what many of us call Holy Communion. When we receive the bread and the cup, we appropriate both the spiritual and physical benefits of our Lord’s suffering, His death, and His resurrection. These benefits include the forgiveness of our sins and peace with God, as well as physical healing for our bodies.

“So Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.”

— John 6:53 (NIV)

Lord it is with glad and thankful hearts that we receive Your broken body and Your shed blood. Amen.
