Marriage and family can be messy, no matter how much you love one another. Let an aged parent or an unemployed adult child move in with you and things can really get sticky. That’s not necessarily a “bad” thing, but it can be a “hard” thing. Marriage and family is often the crucible God uses to form the character of Christ in us.

“…Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude… That is what God has called you to do…”

— 1 Peter 3:8–9 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, I’m not the godly person I thought I was. To my chagrin, I have discovered that I am impatient, irritable, opinionated, and outspoken. Forgive me and change me. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
