No matter how grievous your sins may be you need not despair. Jesus can and will forgive your sins! He also has the authority to deliver you from the bondage of your sins. Matthew 1:21 says, “…give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Notice the careful wording of the verse. It does not say He will save us “in” our sins. If it did that would mean that although we were forgiven we would still be in bondage. Instead it says He will save us “from” our sins. He forgives our sins and delivers us from sin’s bondage.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Lord Jesus, we have sinned against You and against those we love. We cannot undo the damage we have done. You are our only hope. Hear our confession and forgive our sins. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
