As we near the end of another year, I am thinking of all the things that bring me pleasure – a phone call from an old friend, a good book, a second cup of coffee, autumn colors, a warm fire on a winter night, the season’s first snow, the sound of rain on a tin roof, the pungent odor of a dusty barn resurrecting childhood memories of haylofts and hide ‘n seek. Gifts from God, each and every one.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
— James 1:17 (KJV)
and cometh down from the Father.”
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for all the joys of my life. Without Your abiding presence, they would have no meaning. Help me to never forget that. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
