The good news of Christmas is that God’s grace is always greater than our sin!
Someone has said that justice is getting what you deserve. Mercy is not getting what you deserve, and grace is getting what you don’t deserve. Justice would put a millstone around our necks and cast us into the ocean. That’s what we deserved. But instead of justice we received mercy and grace. Grace gave us what we desperately needed but did not deserve—forgiveness. Rather than casting us out on the scrap heap of life, the Lord gives us another chance. That’s the true meaning of Christmas!
“And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
— Matthew 1:21 (NLT)
On this Christmas morning we worship and say, “Glory to God in the highest.” Amen.
