Lord Jesus,
Thank you for Christmas,
that special time when we pause to remember
that You became one of us.
You did not come as a man,
but as a microscopic zygote
clinging to the wall of Mary’s womb.
For a few short months You lived
in the warmth and safety
of Your mother’s body.
Then You were born
and the mystery of Your life in the womb
was revealed for all the world to see.
By Your incarnation,
You have given every child
a special worth and dignity.
You have made each one
a holy treasure,
eternally precious.
Help us I pray,
to be faithful stewards of these little ones.
May we always protect them.
May we nurture them
with Your unconditional love.
May we discipline them
with Your unerring faithfulness.
And may we train them
in Your eternal truth.
In Your holy name I pray.
