The righteousness of Christ makes us perfect and refers to our justification or right standing before God. Holiness refers to our daily walk, where the Holy Spirit is continually convicting us of sin and sanctifying us. If we are not being made holy by the continuing work of the Holy Spirit, one can only conclude that we have not been made perfect forever. Salvation is both instantaneous and continual. We are saved and we are being saved.
“Because by one sacrifice he (Jesus) has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”
— Hebrews 10:14
Lord Jesus, I submit myself to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. Make my daily walk a reflection of my right standing before God. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
