As the holidays approach maybe you are thinking of those who are in a tough place, a lonely place and wondering what you can do to encourage them. You can be a compassionate friend who shares the pain of their situation without judging or rejecting them. You can include them in your holiday plans without making them feel like they are imposing. You can listen when they need to talk, never prying, never making light of their pain with easy answers or ready-made solutions. You can just be there for them.

“Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Be good friends who love deeply.”

— Romans 12:10 (MSG)

Lord Jesus forgive us when we get so caught up in the season that we turn a blind eye to those who are hurting. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
