In his book of prayers, Michel Quoist writes:
“I am afraid of saying ‘Yes,’ Lord.
Where will you take me?
I am afraid of drawing the long straw,
I am afraid of signing my name to an unread agreement,
I am afraid of the ‘yes’ that entails other ‘yeses.’
“O Lord, I am afraid of your demands, but who can resist you?
That your Kingdom may come and not mine,
That your will may be done and not mine,
Help me to say ‘Yes.'”

May the Lord help all of us to say “Yes” today.

“Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.’”

— Matthew 26:39 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, I’ve experienced enough of life to know Your will is better than my own. Help us to pray, “Not my will but Your will. Amen.
