I’m thinking of a childless couple who had been prayed for scores of times and nothing happened. Yet when I prayed for them, she conceived. She didn’t appear to have much faith—a desperate hope maybe, but not much faith. My faith certainly wasn’t anything to write home about, but still God intervened and gave them a son.

“Faith,” as Winn Collier says, “is a call to hope. It enables us to believe again, to stare our disillusionment in the face and grab on for another round.” With that in mind, I’m going to continue to pray for miracles, but I’m going to put my hope only in Jesus.

“The one who trusts in him (Jesus) will never be put to shame.”

— 1 Peter 2:6 (NIV 1984)

Lord we trust You. Help us to trust You more. Amen.
