These devotions on divine healing have triggered a hodgepodge of memories—a young woman instantly healed of an incurable bone disease and a pastor’s blocked arteries instantly opened making heart surgery unnecessary. Then there are the other memories, the desperate prayers when there was no healing. The same person prayed, the same faith was exercised—I know because I was the one praying—but sometimes it resulted in a healing and sometimes it ended in death. I can only conclude that while faith is a factor it is not necessarily the deciding factor. The apostle Paul said:

“I was given a thorn in my flesh, Three different times I begged God to make me well again. Each time he said, ‘No. But I am with you; that is all you need.'”

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (TLB)

Lord teach us to trust You even when You say no! Amen.
