From an early age I heard various people referred to as intercessors. I knew that was a high compliment, but I was never sure what being an intercessor meant. Simply stated an intercessor is one who intercedes on behalf of another. Jesus is the ultimate intercessor, and He is constantly interceding for us (Hebrews 7:25). The Bible tells us to pray for all believers especially those who minister the word (Ephesians 6:18-20). We are also commanded to pray for those who are in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Some believers may have a special anointing as intercessors, but we are all called to intercede.
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers.”
— Ephesians 6:18-19 (NLT)
Lord teach us to pray in the Spirit. Amen.
