A group of artists were asked to paint scenes depicting peace. Most of them created the kind of paintings you would expect—a quiet meadow at sunset, a mother holding a sleeping child, and an empty sanctuary bathed in the refracted light of stained glass. One artist, however, had painted a violent storm.
“How,” someone asked, “can such a violent scene depict peace?”
Pointing, the artist said, “Look, there in the cleft of the rock. There’s a bird with its head thrown back singing.”
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
–Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
Father God, You are my strength and my protection. Let me always find shelter in You no matter how severe the storm. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
