Step two in surviving a severe life storm is to get rid of all excess baggage.
Acts 27:18 says, “We took such a violent battering from the storm that . . . they began to throw the cargo overboard.”
Let me ask you a question. What do you need to get rid of in order to survive this storm? Resentment? Jealousy? Bitterness? Unforgiveness? Doubt? Fear? Anger? Hurt feelings? These are the kind of negative emotions that will sink your ship when life’s storms come.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”
— Ephesians 4:31 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, it is time to get rid of all the negative stuff we’ve been dragging around. If we don’t let it go, it is going to drag us under. Help us. In Your holy name we pray, amen.
