The Biblical record is clear—God wants to communicate with us. So why do so many of us feel like He seldom, if ever, speaks to us personally? Could it be that we have concluded, that while God spoke to people during Biblical times, He no longer speaks to ordinary people like you and me. Or maybe we’re not listening, or perhaps we simply don’t recognize His voice. So how does He speak to us? What does His voice sound like? Job says:
“For God speaks again and again,
— Job 33:14-16 (NIV)
though people do not recognize it.
He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they lie in their beds.
He whispers in their ears…”
Lord Jesus, help us to recognize Your voice when You speak to us. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
