According to Pastor Gordon MacDonald a leader has to deal with four types of people. First there are the VIPs—the very important people. They are today’s leaders. The second group are VTPs—very trainable people. These are tomorrow’s leaders. The third group are the VNPs—very nice people. They are fun to be with but seldom make a significant contribution to the accomplishment of the vision. The fourth group are the VDPs—very draining people. As leaders we must monitor our time and energy to make sure we are investing ourselves where it will produce the greatest return for the Kingdom.

“Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.”

— Proverbs 9:9 (NIV 1984)

Lord, give us both wisdom and compassion. Amen.
