Bonnie Ware is a nurse who spent several years caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. When questioned about any regrets they had common themes surfaced again and again.

  1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself.
  2. I wish I had spent more time with my family.
  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

As you look back over your life what is your greatest regret?

“Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.”

— Hebrew 12:16-17 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, show us how to live so that when we are facing death we will have no regrets. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
