With the last of His swiftly ebbing strength Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The foul cup is finally empty. Sin’s debt has been paid. Jesus has suffered the full penalty for the sins of Adam’s lost race. The Father’s holy justice has been fully satisfied. Now the Father is free to pardon and forgive even the worst of sinners. It makes no difference how far they may have fallen or the sinful deeds they may have done. Now and forever Father God is as near as the smallest prayer whispered in Jesus’ name.
