A young woman was going through an unspeakably difficult time. In desperation, she took her Bible and crawled into the bathroom, where she collapsed on the floor in tears. Never had she felt so alone. No matter how hard she tried she could not sense God’s presence or hear His voice. Although she knew it was not a wise practice, she closed her eyes and opened her Bible randomly. Blindly she jabbed her finger on the page. Through her tears she read, “Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again” (Psalm 71:20-21 emphasis mine).

“My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.”

— Psalm 119:50 (NIV 1984)

Lord Jesus speak to us through Your Word. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
