One of the things I admire most about the apostle Paul is that he finished strong. Nothing stopped him—not beatings, not shipwreck, not even imprisonment. No matter what the enemy threw at him he always prevailed. In 2 Corinthians 4 he writes, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Cor. 4:8-9). In all these things he was more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day…”
— 2 Timothy 4:8-9 (NIV)
Lord, help us not to grow weary in well doing but to finish strong. Amen.
