The New Testament church prayed without ceasing not because they were so spiritual, not because prayer came so naturally to them, but because they were overwhelmed by the enormity of their task, especially in light of their limited resources. They prayed because prayer was their only hope, their best hope. They prayed for one another that their understanding and love might abound. They prayed fervently for anointing that the gospel might be preached with power. They prayed and prayed and prayed!

What about you? Are you praying for God to intervene in this desperate situation? He is our best hope.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

— James 5:16 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, forgive our prayerlessness. Our spirits are willing, but our flesh is often weak. Do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Make us prayer warriors. In Your holy name we pray, amen.
