After praying for His executioners Jesus promised a dying criminal a place with Him in paradise. Like His intercession for His executioners, His promise to the penitent criminal gives us infinite hope. If Jesus would forgive him—a dying criminal with nothing to offer Him, but a sordid past filled with hatred and bloodshed and a heart stained with sin—then surely there is no one beyond the reach of His grace. As the songwriter so aptly put it, “Though millions have come there’s still room for one. Yes, there’s room at the cross for you.”

Jesus, we pray for those who feel they are too far gone. Grant them saving faith and welcome them into Your Kingdom Amen.
