One Sunday morning at the conclusion of service a young couple gave me a handful of coins. They were in Bible College, and this was all the money they had—just over $3 in change. Their rent was due and their cupboards were bare. They gave all they had, every last penny, trusting the Lord to supernaturally supply their needs.
Two days later a businessman stopped by my office. “Pastor,” he asked, “is there someone in our congregation who has a desperate financial need?” I told him about that young couple. He took out his checkbook and made out a check to cover all their expenses for the coming month. They had obeyed the prompting of the Holy Spirit and God had proven Himself faithful to supply their needs.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, I am praying for those in financial need right now. Increase their faith and supply all their needs. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
