Often the people who need our love the most are the very people who are the most unlovable. You know, the person who talks too much. The one who always has to have the last word. The braggard who is always tooting his own horn. You may be tempted to write him off. Don’t, at least not until you have asked Jesus to help you look beyond his behavior, to help you to see that even when his actions are hostile and defensive he is often crying out for love.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

— John 13:34 (NIC)

Lord Jesus, empower us to love with the love whereby You have loved us. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
