Few stories in the Bible are so filled with human drama and so packed with divine truth as the story of Joseph. Joseph—Jacob’s favorite son. Joseph—chosen by God for greatness. Joseph—sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. Joseph—falsely accused of attempted rape, unjustly convicted and imprisoned. A lesser man might well have thrown in the towel. Not Joseph. He never lost his faith, nor did he become bitter. Finally, God enabled him to interpret Pharaoh’s dream and as a reward Pharaoh made him the second highest ruler in all of Egypt.

“He [God] gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.”

— Acts 7:10 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, forgive us when we are tempted to give up, to lose hope when it seems things are not working out. Help us to remain faithful no matter how long it takes. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
