Without the Resurrection, the Incarnation is nothing more than a ridiculous gesture in which God became one of us in a misguided attempt to save us from our sins. Without the Resurrection, the Crucifixion of Jesus is nothing more than a tragic miscarriage of justice. Without the Resurrection, our faith is mere wishful thinking, or, as the apostle Paul argues,

“…if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. . . . If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”

— 1 Corinthians 15:14 and 19 (NIV)

Father God, thank you that the resurrection of Jesus is not only a historical fact but also a present reality! Amen.
