At least two things distinguish God’s blessing from the power-brokering materialism of the world. First, His blessing is a consequence rather than a goal. Spiritually mature believers seek only the Kingdom of God. These other things (i.e., wealth and power) are truly unsought. They are merely an expression of the Father’s goodness, never a personal goal. Second, mature believers see themselves as stewards, not owners. All wealth and power belongs to the Father. As believers we are simply managing them for Him.
“The blessing of the Lord brings wealth and he adds no trouble to it.”
— Proverbs 10:22 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, make me a good steward. Help me to use all my influence and all my earthly goods to advance Your Kingdom. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
