How can a person distinguish between a random thought and a word from God? Good question. First ask yourself if your random thought lines up with Scripture. Remember God’s special guidance will never contradict Scripture. If it lines up with Scripture then ask yourself if this is the kind of thought you would normally have. If it is not there’s a good chance the Holy Spirit is prompting you. Bottom line: You will have to step out in faith because it is nearly impossible to be 100% sure.

Lord Jesus, give me the faith to act even when I am not absolutely sure if it is the prompting of the Holy Spirit or my overactive imagination. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
