A third factor that makes a person especially vulnerable to certain temptations is their personal history—those experiences that have shaped who they are. That is not to say they cannot overcome their past or the temptations it births, but only that it is a factor they must take into account. By recognizing the part their past plays in making them vulnerable to certain temptations, they can take whatever steps are necessary to neutralize its power.
