As a young boy I spent several nights each week with my Grandma Miller. After dark she would light the kerosene lamp and tell me the story of her life. Those memories are special and I wanted to recreate them for my grandson so I lit the kerosene lamp and began to tell him the story of my life. To my disappointment he became restless after two or three minutes.
What was the problem?
I wasn’t speaking his language. He speaks a digital, high tech language and if I am going to relate to him I will have to learn his language.
The point I am trying to make is this: If we are going to reach this generation for Christ we are going to have learn their language.
“If you speak to people in words they don’t understand, how will they know what you are saying?”
–1 Corinthians (14:9 NLT)
Lord Jesus, help me be willing to learn this high tech language so I can reach this generation. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
