Ruth’s father was a bi-vocational pastor. He served faithfully well into his eighties. As he lay dying, he took Ruth’s hand and said, “Ruth, the Lord saves the hardest for last.” That wasn’t what she expected him to say and it’s certainly not what we want to hear. Most of us want to believe our last years will be our best years but that is seldom the case. More often than not our last years are fraught with daunting challenges but never fear. God’s grace is always sufficient.
“He (Jesus) said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.””
— 2 Corinthians12:9 (NLT)
Lord, give us more grace as the burdens grow greater. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
