As I consider Peter’s life and ministry two things stand out above all the rest. First, God’s ability to use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. Peter was no towering intellect, nor was he a man of extraordinary insight or courage. He was a working man, a fisherman. This is the very thing that makes him so remarkable. He is so much like us. And if God could use an ordinary man like Peter, then surely, He can use ordinary people like you and me. The second thing is no matter how many times Peter failed; God refused to give up on him.

“For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn; he will never go back on his promises.”

— Romans 11:29 (TLB)

Remind us Lord, that no matter how many times we fail you will never give up on us. Amen.
