Yesterday I told you about a young couple who gave every cent they had even though their rent was due, and their cupboards were bare. Two days later a businessman stopped by my office. “Pastor,” he said, “is there someone in our congregation who has a desperate financial need?” I told him about that young couple. He took out his checkbook and wrote out a check to cover all their expenses for the coming month. I will never forget the joy that flooded their hearts when I handed them that check. They had obeyed the prompting of the Holy Spirit and God had proven Himself faithful to supply their needs.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

— Philippians 4:19 (NIV 1984)

Lord Jesus, give me the faith to be obedient when You ask me to give all that I have in my bank account, especially if I don’t know where my next paycheck is coming from. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
