Your thoughts don’t have to be based in reality to produce powerful feelings. Let me illustrate. A couple attending a conference where I was preaching couldn’t find their ten-year-old daughter. She was supposed to be in their hotel room, but she wasn’t. After a frantic search of the Hotel grounds, they were convinced she had been kidnapped. They were nearly beside themselves thinking she might be raped and murdered. In reality she was in no danger. She had just gone to the wrong room by mistake, but that reality did nothing to alleviate their fears as long as they were convinced she had been kidnapped.

Lord help us to bring every thought into obedience to Christ lest fear overwhelm us. Amen.
