One Sunday morning, at the conclusion of worship, I was approached by a young woman who desired prayer. As a committed believer she was concerned about marrying an unsaved man and she wanted me to pray with her for guidance. I gently refused, reasoning that there was nothing to pray about as God’s will was already revealed in his word. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.”

I agree with A.W. Tozer who said we should never seek guidance about what God has already forbidden. What we need is not guidance but obedience.

Lord Jesus, give us the strength to obey even when our carnal nature wants its own way. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
