Relationships are often messy—especially family relationships. There are misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Anger tempts us to lash out, to get even. Self-pity tempts us to distance ourselves from those who have hurt us, to find a place where we can lick our wounds and feel sorry for ourselves. Unfortunately, neither anger nor self-pity is productive.
Maybe you are in a painful relationship right now. If so, ask the Lord to show you what you can do to heal the relationship. Ask Him to redeem your pain, to use it to accomplish His purposes in your life.
“If you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, go immediately to this friend and make things right.”
— Matthew 5:23-24 (MSG)
Lord, help us to make things right in all our relationships. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
