There’s much we can learn from Moses’s failed attempted to deliver the Israelites when he was forty years old (Acts 7:23-29). First: rash actions—like Moses’ fit of temper—have consequences. As a result, Moses ended up spending forty years in exile. Now the good news: neither our mistakes nor our weaknesses disqualify us from the Lord’s service. In fact, our handicaps may be a blessing in disguise. They force us to depend on the Lord rather than trusting in our own giftedness.
At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me,
“My grace is enough; it’s all you need.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:8 (MSG)
Lord, help us to stop making excuses and simply obey You. Amen.
