Before his fall from favor Moses was a respected member of Pharaoh’s court. He was, “…educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action” (Acts 7:22). After he killed the Egyptian slave master, he fled to the backside of the desert where he became a sheepherder. While he was in exile, he developed a severe speech impediment (Exodus 4:10), probably as the result of the emotional and psychological damage he suffered as a result of his fall from favor.

“O Lord, I’m not very good with words…I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

— Exodus 4:10 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, help us to stop focusing on our handicaps and start appreciating Your enabling power. Amen.
